Australia’s Dan Christian, who plays for Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League, scored a 15-ball fifty in the ongoing T20 tournament. He scored 50 against Adelaide Strikers with the help of four fours and five sixes while playing for the Sixers. Not only this, Christian scored 46 runs in just nine balls. The fiery knock from him helped Sydney get a 38-run win over Adelaide Strikers.
The 15-ball fifty scored by Dan is now the second fastest fifty in the history of the Big Bash League. The record for fastest fifty in BBL is held by Windies batting legend Chris Gayle, who in January 2016, had scored his half-century against Adelaide Strikers in just 12 balls. Third in this list is England’s Tom Banton, who had scored 50 off 16 balls in January 2020 against Sydney Thunder.
Due to Christian’s stormy innings, Sydney Stars scored 177 runs for five wickets. Apart from him, captain Daniel Hughes scored an unbeaten 46 runs. At one time in the match, Sydney was struggling by scoring just 58 runs in 11 overs.
In such a situation, Christian, who came for batting at number five, wreaked havoc. He added 58 runs in 21 balls for the fourth wicket with Hughes, and powered the team beyond 100 runs in no time. One major highlight of Christian’s innings was him scoring 22 runs in Liam Scott’s over. In this over, he hit three sixes and a four. After completing his fifty, Christian was bowled out by Wes Agar for 16-ball 50.
Christian has for four teams in Indian Premier League
37-year-old Christian has also played international cricket for Australia. He is an all-rounder and has played 19 ODIs and 16 T20 matches for his national team. In ODIs, he scored 273 runs and bagged 20 wickets and 11 wickets in T20s.
However, he could not make most of the opportunities that were given to him, due to which he was dropped from the Australian cricket team. Christian also made his presence felt in the IPL. He has played for teams like RCB, Deccan Chargers, Delhi Daredevils and Rising Supergiant. Apart from International T20 matches, he has taken 243 wickets and scored 4865 runs in leagues around the world.
